Munster Agricultural Society Board

The Munster Agricultural Society (MAS) Board is responsible for the governance, financial oversight, and strategic direction of the Society. Board Members are elected by the MAS Council and bring a wide range of professional expertise from the fields of agriculture, business, and commerce.

Board Objectives:
The Board is committed to safeguarding the future of agriculture in Munster through a focus on education, grassroots participation, and community engagement. Key priorities include:

  • Promoting Education: The Board recognises the vital role education plays in the future of agriculture. Through initiatives such as the Cork Summer Show, MAS champions education across agriculture, horticulture, sustainability, and rural life.

  • Supporting Grassroots Development: Encouraging participation at every level — from young handler classes to community-led competitions — is central to MAS’s mission. These programmes foster learning, inclusivity, and a deep appreciation for the land.

  • Inspiring the Next Generation: By investing in education and supporting grassroots involvement, the Board aims to inspire and equip future generations to sustain and strengthen agriculture in Munster.

Role of the Board:
The MAS Board is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Society and for implementing the policies and strategic directions set by the MAS Council.  Through this work, the Board ensures that MAS continues to uphold its proud traditions while advancing the future of agriculture, rural life, and community engagement across the region.

The Board of Directors is comprised of:

  • President – Chairperson – C. Gerard Murphy
  • Deputy President – Vice Chairperson – Shane Kelly

And 5 other Elected Directors:

  • Nicola Desmond
  • Angela Walsh 

  • The position of Treasurer to the Company is held by Annemarie Quin, Society Treasurer.

  • The position of Deputy Treasurer to the Company is held by Owen Hurley, Society Treasurer.

  • The position of Secretary to the Company is held by Dan Kelleher, Society Secretary.

  • The position of Secretary to the Company is also held by Suzanne Hickey, Society Assistant Secretary.
