Minutes of Meeting of the General Committee held at the Show Grounds, Ballintemple, Cork, on 17th, December, 1982, with Mr. T.N. Tanner in the chair.

Mr. T.N Tanner, President Presided. 
Also present were - Dr. R.Quill, Mrs. N.Folley, Comdt. J. Frost, Messrs. C. Donovon, MI. O'Sullivan, J.H Ellis, T.A. Kelly, Pat McGrath, J.R Nicholson, Denis O'Connell, Daniel O'Leary, Wm. O Mahony, S.Burke, Dominic Daly, A. O'Keeffe, H. Wall, R.Young, and the secretary, W.P Bennett. Apologies for non-attendance were received from - Judge T.N. Desmond, Mrs M.Carroll, Messr. E. Wall, J.Spillane, Tim O'Sullivan, M.E Quirke, and Thos Lynch. 

Minutes: 
The minutes of the previous meeting held on 19th November 1982, having been read, were approved and signed on the proposal of Mr Daly, seconded by Mr Fell. 
The minutes of the following sub-committees were also read - 
Show/Finance - 19th. November, 1982.
Horticultural - 13th. December, 1982.
Dog Show - 14th. December, 1982.
Poultry - 16th. December, 1982. 

Spring Show and Sale of Bulls - Feb 1983. 
The secretary gave details of entries received for the February 1983 Spring Show and sale of Bulls. 

Accounts: 
On the proposal of Mr. Kearney, seconded by Mr. O'Keeffe, the following accounts, having been recommended by the Show/Finance Committee, were passed for payment :- 

Cork Corporation - Ground Rent 1982 - £1700.00
D.O'Mahony - Stationary - 49.10
Wicklow Press - Prize List & Entry forms Spring Show and Sale - 468.59
Jack Hegarty - Electrical Repairs - 17.51
Jerry O'Mahony - Public Address Horse Sale - 88.50
Cork Examiner - Advertising Spring Show/Sale - 70.80
Atkins, Chirnsmde, & Co - Fee Taxation Work - 324.50
Mogridges - Members Badges/Rosettes Sterling - 122.76.
Cork Universal Homes - Repairs at Grounds - 2254.80
Hamilton Leasing (Zerox) - Hire Cpying Machine - 76.98
W.R. Ahern - Repairs & Cleaning 2 Typewriters - 47.20.

Dr. Quill queried if tenders had been sought for the repairs and Mr.John O'Sullivan suggested printing a smaller prize schedule for the spring show and sale. 

Seanad General Election: 
The secretary announced that only two nominations had been received for the societys nomination to the agricultural panel of the forthcoming Seanad General Election and those were Mr. MI Broderick and Mr. Rory Kiely. Both names had been submitted to the Seanad Election returning officer. 

Vote of Sympathy: On the proposal of Mr Daly a vote of sympathy was passed to Mrs May Sheehan and family of femanasting, Whitechurch, Co. Cork, on the recent death of her husband, Mr.John D'Sheehan. 

Other Matters: The secretary announced that the next  meeting of the committee would be held on Friday 14th, January 1983, and the annual general meeting on Friday 28th, January, 1983. 
Mr Daly queried position in relation to Cork corporation and lease of show grounds and the president informed him that the matter was under active negotiation at present and the society were arranging to meet the corporation. 
In closing the meeting the present wished all the members a happy and peaceful christmas. 
Dr. Quill congratulated Mr. Wm.O'Mahony on being elected to the Board of Bord na gCapall and Mr. O'Mahony returned thanks.
