The minutes of the last meeting was read & signed.
Letters were read from the following Judges; accepting the Committee’s invitation to judge at the forthcoming Summer Show:- Hunters – Col. Alexander and J.T. Upton ; Young Horses –Wickham Boynton, Burton Agnes Hall, Driffeils, B. York; jumping Competition-The Hon. Mr. Justice Wylie; Sheep – H. Franks; British Friesians –Mrs. Browne, St. Alban’s; Pigs – Col. Gibbon, Mr. John Wallace, The Mc Gillicuddy and H.B. Allen wrote regretting they could not accept the Committee’s invitation to Judge Kerries & Butter, respectively.
It was decided to delete the condition with reference to the shearing of sheep. A letter was read from Mr. Maurice Moore with reference to the 1st Prize arranged to a stallion at the Spring Show,1928.Mr. Moore stated that ,as the horse was disqualified from the 1st place and as his horse got 2nd place ,he thought he was entitled to get 1st prize. After some discussion, it was decided ,on the motion of Mr. Desmond, seconded by Mr. Ross, to recommend to the finance Committee to pay Mr. Moore the sum of £5, being the difference between 1st and 2nd prize. And that the 3rd prize horse, the property of Mr. Crowley ,be moved up to 2nd place, and that the sum of £3 being the difference between 2nd and 3rd prize be paid to Mr. Crowley.
The Secretary submitted rules and regulations governing Trade stands at the Society’s shows and same were adopted. The secretary was directed to unite to Mr. Arthur R. Vincent ,asking him if he would judge Kerries at the forthcoming Summer Show. The Secretary was directed to send out to each member of the Show particulars of offers in the jumping competitions at last year’s show, and the member of entries in each competition and to put the matter in the agenda for the next meeting.
An application was received from Mr. J.F. Wood, asking permission to use a door leading from his stand to the Quadrangle, it was decided to grant permission but to inform Mr. Wood that if he sold any goods through this door or erected a counter in front of same it should be looked as additional space and would have to be paid for at the fixed rate, as laid down for space. The Secretary was instructed to write to no. 2 Amy Band asking them for a quotation for the Band to perform at the forthcoming Summer Show. The following tenders were received for the 1st & 2nd class.
